System Shock is planned to launch in March on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and EGS. This narrative-driven space survival sim was a classic when it launched and it seems like it's about to capture some new fans next month. We highly suggest to try it for yourself, especially if you are a fan of its slightly more mainstream cousin, BioShock. The demo can last upwards of 30 minutes or longer, depending on your playstyle. Maybe its 5 extra levels in an optional dungeon. Trying to make System Shock feel like a classic title with modern mechanics is a hard feat, but it seems like Nightdive has cracked the code. Meanwhile, studios who are not only experienced with game development but also experienced with the Kickstarter hustle do things a little tricksy: They take things they were planning on doing anyway - things they are confident their team can do - and use that as stretch goals. The demo does a great job of nailing the modernized retro look that the developers were aiming for. Thankfully, it seems like all of those years of baking in the oven have paid off.
